Heat wave

The short story

High temperatures in combination with high humidity is uncomfortable and potentially dangerous. The airconditioning equipment in Mantra Trilogy is bery effective so you will always be fine inside. If you go out while the sun is upp always wear a hat with wide brim. Some advice on fluid intake:

  • An adult should normally drink 2 to 3 litres of water a day at regular intervals, even if you do not feel thirsty. If you are on a limited fluid intake, check with your doctor.
  • Sugar free oral rehydration solutions is a good alternative to plain water to replace fluids and body salts.
  • Limit intake of alcohol, tea and coffee. Do not drink fluids that are high in sugar (e.g. flat lemonade or sports drinks with sugar). They can make dehydration worse.
  • Try to eat cold foods, particularly salads and fruit. Avoid heavy protein foods which raise body heat and increase fluid loss.
